Årets upplaga av Sweden Rock Festival startar idag den 7 juni. Vi kör vidare med intervjuer med banden som spelar på festivalen, Andreas Östlund har ställt ett par frågor till Jonne Järvelä i Korpiklaani om deras spelning på festivalen.
Have you played at Sweden Rock before, and what are your expectations for the festival?
– Yes, Korpiklaani played once several years ago. I remember Motörhead was in the same year and Lemmy was watching us at the side of the stage. I expected a great heavy metal party and a very good gig. Nice to get a chance to play in Sweden after so many years!
Any bands that you yourself will take the opportunity to see when you are still in place?
– Would be nice to have time to see the British Lion, U.D.O. and Gojira. Unfortunately we need to pack quickly after our show and go back to Finland because we have a gig there the next day.
What is it like to play at a festival, compared to a club or arena?
– It is totally different. Before I didn’t like it so much because in the festival situation there is not a chance for a soundcheck. Nowadays we have a good crew and In-ear monitors, so I don’t care about that anymore. It is different from club shows but great to play in front of the big audience with this band.
Apart from Sweden Rock, what else will happen in the summer of 2023?
– We are in the middle of our 12th album recordings. We’ve been doing it during the summer festival season, so we are very busy. Also I’m writing songs for the 3rd album for Jonne- band, which is kind of my solo thing.
Best live band of all time?
– Too difficult a question. So many bands of all time and it depends on the mood what is the best at the moment. At this moment right now I’m thinking Avatarium is the best.
Any festival that is on the wish list, apart from SRF then?
– We are playing the next day at a festival in Finland but it would be nice to play other than metal festivals too. Like all around pop/rock festivals, which would offer every kind of music for every kind of person.
What characterizes a good festival?
– The sun and good weather, smiles and good people!
