Jim Jarmush The Stooges-dokumentär premiärvisas i Detroit

Jim Jarmush The Stooges-dokumentär Gimme Danger  premiärvisas i bandets hemstad Detroit imorgon fredag.

Jarmush har lagt ner mycket arbete på att samla ihop exklusivt material till filmen, och fått hjälp av bland andra den gamla Dirtbombs-trummisen Ben Blackwell.

Sångaren Iggy Pop har tidigare samarbetat med Jarmush, fast då som skådespelare i filmerna Coffee and Cigarettes och Dead Man. Projektet med The Stooges-dokumentären har pågått i flera år, och bandets trummis Scott Asheton gick sorgligt nog bort under inspelningen.

Iggy Pop, som sett filmen tre gånger, intervjuades i The Guardian igår:

“I’m still seeing new things; I have a memory loss. Last week is always fresh. (…) I go through some cathartic emotion because we did have a rough time getting our point across,”

Jarmush: “I was realizing, ‘Wow, you know, the Stooges – Funhouse, Raw Power – are some of the most incredible gifts to rock’n’roll ever, right? And yet they made these gifts, and then they’re 23 or 24 years old, and the world has basically pissed on them and then they’re going home to their moms. And that really struck me.”
