There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD. Have a drink or few.
Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister
1945 -2015

The king is gone. R.I.P Mr Lemmy Kilmister. You will be sadly missed. Can’t really say that we were close friends, but we hung out and spent some really good times and tours together. This picture is from Berlin June 16, 2009, and we’re just about to grab a cab to the Berlin Casino. Motörhead was a true Rock N’ Roll ”thermometer”. If you’ve been a musician for lets say 20 years, and haven’t toured with Motörhead, you might still be in a rock band, but you are not in a Rock N’ Roll band. See you on the other side. – Backyard Babies

Awful news to hear of Lemmy’s passing. Lemmy was the quintessential punk. He lived life on his own terms. He wrote music for his fans and for him. He was louder than anyone on stage and yet quiet and gentle off stage. His fans will miss him, and so will I. I first met Lemmy in 1987 in the UK at the Reading Festival. Motorhead was on tour with us for the “Raise Your Fist And Yell” tour. Since then we’ve toured together several times and have done countless festival shows together. – Alice Cooper

So sad to hear about Lemmy passing. One of the nicest and most genuine people in the whole industry. It was Lemmy who came up with our band name Dare when we told him we were struggling to think of one. He wanted us to use Dare as it did not suggest any style of music and would not alienate anyone before they even heard a song. All the legends are leaving us. Soon there will be nothing left. – Vinny Burns (Dare, Ten, Ultravox)
R.I.P Lemmy. Jack & Coke and “love you like a reptile” today – Peter Andersson (Mean Streak)
I knew Lemmy for 36 years – if you were his friend you were his friend for life. He has dealt his last card; he was a defiant rebel to the end who loved his music and never compromised. My heart goes out to his family and friends. The Motörhead organisation are in mourning for their friend and mentor to the management and their fantastic crew. Let’s remember Lemmy as he wanted to be: as an iconic song writer and lyricists and R&R rebel. I’m sure Phil and Micky are in shock this was their greatest tour, and I watched them play every night & they sounded great sad sad day. Wherever you are mate give em hell. – Biff Byford (Saxon)
Another Legend gone.. – Nigel Clutterbuck (Dare)
RIP LEGEND. THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC. FROM ALL OF US. – Disturbed
