Pretty Maids – Maid In Japan – Future World Live 30th Anniversary

On Friday, the Pretty Maids released Maid In Japan – Future World Live 30th Anniversary on CD and Blu-Ray video. For this review, I reviewed the cd.

The entire listening experience reminded me why I have long been a fan of Pretty Maids, they do a great live show and their live sound is consistent, something fans have come to expect and enjoy.

Living in Seattle, I never take an opportunity for granted to see the band live. Since discovering their music ages ago I’ve only had the chance to see them live twice and as luck would have it, only in Sweden.  The closest live experience I had for many years was what I could find on an album or online, so I could say I’ve become very in tune to their live recordings since I’ve digested just about everything live I could find.

When I heard they were releasing a live version of Future World, I was ready to hear the live album and just as I expected, they delivered another great experience for music fans to enjoy. I was instantly taken back to my own live experiences with them as the live gig penetrated my ears. For me, it’s a bit melancholy knowing how many years I waited to see them and then to hear this album done so well live.

What fans will get for songs is Future World in entirety and then some newer hits as well. As far as the experience, it’s classic Pretty Maids doing one of the two things they do best, performing live music (the other, making music). Fans who’ve listened to the original album for ages are going to enjoy this live version. For those who were in Japan and got to see this show live, they have a great memory that’s now center stage as an album.

With the lack of live gigs worldwide right now, I would suggested picking up this album then heading outside to your favorite sunny spot or out under a clear night sky and turn this up loud while enjoying your favorite festival beverage to add in that special feeling that live gigs give to all of us. This album honestly makes you feel like you are there listening in person and is great escape from the current times the world is living through right now. If you prefer a visual experience this album is also available in a Blu-Ray Dvd.

5.0 – Mästerverk! Fullkomligt perfekt. Inte ett enda svagt spår! Finns ingenting att klaga på.
4.5 – Stark fyra. Utmärkt! Snudd på perfekt men det lilla extra saknas för att rankas som mästerverk.
4.0 – Stabil fyra. Mycket bra! Har någonting extra!
3.5 – Stark trea. Riktigt bra!
3.0 – Stabil trea. Tämligen bra. Lite spretig men ändå god musikunderhållning.
2.5 – Medelmåttig men lyssningsbart.
2.0 – Hyfsad! De sämre låtarna är tyvärr betydligt fler än de bra. Lämnar mycket att önska.
1.5 – Ganska dålig.
1.0 – Väldigt dålig. I stort sett bortkastad tid.
0.5 – Urusel! Plågsam upplevelse!
